We usually think of freedom as the absence of rules. But real freedom is reflected through the power to choose what’s right, and exert control over that temptation that makes us go after what feels good. Galatians 5:1 says, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.” But many Christians still walk around in invisible chains—bound by hidden addiction, condemned by shame, people-pleasing, driven by anxiety, and struggling with depression.
Breaking Invisible Chains
Psychology calls it “learned helplessness” this is when someone is so used to pain or restriction that they stop trying to escape. With times the uncomfortable becomes the norm. We’re no longer hearing The Holy Spirit. Perhaps some call themselves Christians and have never encountered The Holy Spirit of God.
Like an elephant trained with a chain as a baby; as an adult, it won’t even try to break free, even though it easily could, and even killed their master if it wanted to.
If you have to The Holy Spirit of God living within you, you too can kill the evil master that tries to rule your life and ruin your future.
We can stop living like this elephant
Bound by pain. With limited mindsets and limited lifestyles. Stuck in the rut of poverty, addictions. Going with the motions and tossed by winds of life like the waves of the ocean. Chained to sin, and too ashamed to talk about it. Spiritually dead due to generational curses.
Let’s start talking about it.
God doesn’t just forgive you; He empowers you to change. And when you receive that power, you can help others #BreakFree
Freedom is a process. It often starts with identifying what’s keeping you bound. Is it fear of rejection? A habit you can’t shake? A toxic relationship?
Jesus said, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). The first step is being honest—with God, with yourself, with others. Seek help, a mentor, a coach, therapy, someone to hold you accountable. Pray even when you don’t feel it. Read the scriptures. With time you’ll see that all that will work together like keys unlocking the same cell.
You were not made to live stuck. You were made to walk in the freedom Christ paid for. It won’t always feel like victory, but freedom is forged in daily choices, not sudden breakthroughs.
Today, ask: What chains have I accepted as normal? And what would it look like to believe I’m already free?
Believe in yourself. I believe you can do this.
